Umbrella Stroller Safety

The Bottom Line

A good stroller will make your busy lifestyle smooth and enjoyable. Finding the best umbrella stroller for travel does not have to be a daunting task. If you feel overwhelmed with the many options to choose from, try to narrow it down to your top three must have features in a great travel stroller. This will help you find the stroller that is the perfect match for your family.

For me, the key feature apart from safety is the lightness of the stroller, and for this reason I would choose the Maclaren Mark II as my first choice, as it is super lightweight, and easy to lug around on the many walks and shopping trips I plan. All of the above strollers are safe, non-toxic, and made without flame retardants, which are hazardous to your baby’s health and could cause issues with neuro-development.

Just like finding the best bassinet for your new born, finding the best umbrella stroller for travel is a baby essential that will make your active life much simpler and add value to your trips and travels.

    • Hi Mary,
Are you talking about any particular one, or all of the above in general?
Yes, they are all manufactured with fire safety in mind, if that’s what you mean.
Not all flame retardants are dangerous but some of them are very toxic. Flame retardants include brominated, chlorinated and phosphate-based chemicals. Brominated and chlorinated-based chemicals which are also called halogenated are harmful to our health.
Brominated or chlorinated flame retardant chemicals can cause cancer, disrupt our hormone and damage developing brain cells.

The above shortlist of Umbrella Strollers are manufactured without brominated or chlorinated flame retardants, which are toxic. You can read more about these toxins in some baby products and their harmful effects on the CEH website if you like (https://www.ceh.org/products/parent-shopping-guide/).

      Hope this answers your question.
